  Today, September 6, is the eighth day of the SEAMEO Southeast Asia Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. Today I helped prepare the question papers for the Science exam. Then I conducted classroom observations and helped to supervise the exam activities.   One of the challenges I faced today was the language barrier. During class activities, the languages spoken were Tagalog and English. All students were disciplined in taking the exam.   While at school, I was impressed by the students who were always polite. Then at school there is a prayer that is done every 3 hours.    The experience of interacting with the pupils and students was very rewarding. Although they and I had language difficulties, we tried to learn from each other. When in the school environment I saw them disciplined for morning, afternoon and evening prayer times. I realized that schools in the host country teach not only knowledge but also good behavior and personality.   ...

    Today, September 5, is the seventh day of the SEAMEO Southeast Asia Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. In the morning, I attended the welcome ceremony. Then an EHS tour to get to know the classrooms and teachers' offices in the high school. Then a campus tour to get to know the history of the buildings on campus. Then in the afternoon I had a library tour to see how the books are stored and maintained.    One of the challenges I faced today was the language barrier. During school activities, the languages spoken are Tagalog and English. And during the classroom and campus tour, we had a bit of trouble finding the rooms because many of the rooms and buildings are spacious.   While at school, I was impressed by the students who were always polite. During the campus tour, I saw a lot of unique Catholic culture in the buildings.  Today, September 4, is the sixth day of the SEAMEO Southeast Asia Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. I started following the program with the college and high school. There was a flag raising ceremony and introduction to the students by the principal. Then a meeting with my supervisor.    One of the challenges I faced today was the language barrier. During school activities, the languages spoken are Tagalog and English. I was also given the opportunity to introduce myself to all the students, I was very excited and a little nervous.    While at school, I was amazed by the students who were always polite and respectful between students and teachers.  Today, September 3, is the fifth day of the SEAMEO Southeast Asia Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. I started the day by worshipping at the UST church in Santísimo Rosario Parish. Then I interacted with my roommate, as it was a sunny day and we decided to visit the National Museum of the Philippines.    One of the challenges I faced today was the language barrier. The services were in English and Tagalog so I didn't really understand. Then while exploring the Museum, we used public transportation and it was a little difficult because not all the drivers could speak English, but the drivers still tried their best for us.    While worshipping, I could see that people in this country are very punctual.   Today, September 2, marks the fourth day of the SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. Today I had no schedule, so I interacted with my roommates about our respective countries and discussed the country's culture. I also pass the time by reading and preparing myself for teaching.    Today I learned to improve myself to always be productive even on weekends.     I discussed about culture with my roommate, the host country has a lot of diversity in culture such as food, places and vehicles.     Today's discussion experience helped me improve my English skills and learn to organize time to study consistently.    Overall, the 4th day of the SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Project Practicum was a day full of learning and growth.      Today, September 1, marks the third day of the SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. Today the rainfall is still high, making it impossible to do outdoor activities. When the weather started to improve in the afternoon, my friends and I took a walk around the campus. In the evening we discussed about our respective education.   Today's challenge encourages me to always think creatively about doing indoor activities when the weather is not favorable for going outside.    The cultural insight I got today was that the local people were very friendly as we walked around the campus.      Today, August 31, marks the second day of my SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. I started the day with a warning from my lecturer that the weather was bad today and we were encouraged to stay inside the dormitory. I interacted with my roommates about our respective countries. Later in the afteToday's experience was both challenging and rewarding. I was able to see the habits of the host country's people to remain productive despite the sometimes bad weather, and the officials were always ready to provide weather information.
