Day 6 of SEA-Teacher in the Philippines

Today, September 4, is the sixth day of the SEAMEO Southeast Asia Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. I started following the program with the college and high school. There was a flag raising ceremony and introduction to the students by the principal. Then a meeting with my supervisor.

One of the challenges I faced today was the language barrier. During school activities, the languages spoken are Tagalog and English. I was also given the opportunity to introduce myself to all the students, I was very excited and a little nervous.

While at school, I was amazed by the students who were always polite and respectful between students and teachers. When at school always start the activity with prayer, the culture of the host country is very good.

The experience of interacting with the teachers and students was very useful. Although they and I had language difficulties, we tried to learn from each other. I was amazed to see the cultural diversity of the host country. I realized that a culture of good manners is important, especially for students.

Overall the sixth day of the SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Project Practicum was an introductory activity, I was able to learn to recognize and gain insight into the culture and students at the school.
