Day 9 of SEA-Teacher in the Philippines
Today, September 7, is my ninth day of the SEAMEO Southeast Asia Teacher Practicum Project in the Philippines. Today I observed teaching and learning activities in two 9th grade classes. Today's science class material discussed Genetics, I observed the learning activities starting with the opening, explanation and question and answer to students. All students were mostly enthusiastic to follow the lesson activities.
One of the challenges I faced today was the language barrier. During class activities, the languages spoken are Tagalog and English.
During my time at the school, I was impressed by the students who were always polite.
The experience of interacting with the students and observing learning in the classroom was very rewarding. Although they and I had some language difficulties, we tried to learn from each other.
Overall, the ninth day of the SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Project Practicum is observation and classroom activities, I can learn to recognize learning activities in the classroom and gain insight into the culture of the school environment.
