Day 13 of SEA-Teacher in the Philippines

Today, September 11, is my thirteenth day of the Seameo Southeast Asia Teacher Practicum in the Philippines. Today I observed and assisted 9th grade Dignity, today's material was genetics and monohybrid crosses. Then in the afternoon I also made observations to Junior High School. The class I observed was a 7th grade science session, students also learned the introduction to the laboratory.

One of the challenges I face today is interacting with learners, I have to learn more local language and improve my English skills in order to interact more with learners. The rest of the students are skillful in learning.

I learned about the importance of greetings and certain behavioral etiquette in the host country's culture, which I had unknowingly used during interactions such as greeting each other between teachers and learners. Understanding these cultural nuances helped me feel more connected to my students and colleagues and showed my respect for their customs.

During my time at the school, I was impressed by the students who were always polite, they had good ethics.

I also realized that learning the local language of the host country is very important for good interaction with students. Classroom observation activities also broadened my horizons in teaching.

Overall, the thirteenth day of the SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Project Practicum was all about classroom observation and learning. I was able to understand more about how to manage a classroom and teach students.
