Day 10 of SEA-Teacher in the Philippines
Today, September 8, is the tenth day of Seameo Southeast Asia teacher practicum project in the Philippines. Today I observed the club day class activities to provide motivation and consultation, the students were very enthusiastic about the activities. Then in the afternoon I attended a tagalog language class, I was very enthusiastic about learning the daily language of tagalog. After the class, the tagalog lecturer invited us to try Halo-halo ice cream from the Philippines. The ice cream was very fresh and there were many toppings such as fruit and bread, I really liked it.
One of the challenges I faced today was learning Tagalog. We learned to introduce ourselves in tagalog and I was a little nervous. But during the class activities, I also learned a lot of culture from the country of the Philippines which broadened my horizons.
During my time at the school, I was impressed by the students who were always polite especially since they were always given directions such as club day classes to shape the character of students. I was also impressed by the culture and tagalog language that I learned today.
The experience of interacting with the students and attending tagalok language classes was very beneficial for me. I realized that getting to know the culture and learning class in the Philippines can broaden my horizon especially in terms of educating students.
Overall, the tenth day of the SEAMEO SEA-Teacher Project Practicum was observing classroom activities and learning tagalog. I was able to learn to recognize classroom learning activities and gain insight into the culture of the Philippines.
